Oregon State of Mind

Role

Apparel Graphics, Art Direction, Production

Overview

I wanted Oregon State spirit wear that felt like real streetwear, not standard campus merch. This project became a fashion-forward hoodie graphic built for depth, clean separations, and scale on-body.

Oregon State of Mind is a play on the school name, but it also points to what college does to you. It shifts your perspective and identity. The design needed to feel personal and a little countercultural, not corporate.

History

The concept was inspired by a real Oregon moment where culture and DIY problem-solving saved a brand. In 1972, the Grateful Dead played a benefit concert in Veneta to help Springfield Creamery, and tickets were famously printed on Nancy’s Yogurt labels.

Design

  • Psychedelic skeleton illustration with a heat-map effect to symbolize transformation.

  • Collegiate typography pushed into a more subversive, poster-like attitude.

  • Built for screenprinting with clean separations and strong hoodie-scale readability.

Outcome

  • Sold out on launch, then sold out again after an unexpected second release and larger restock.

  • Proved there’s demand for school spirit that feels style-led, not generic.
